"Unsurprisingly, the Maldives has gained a reputation as a leader in sustainable tuna fishing and is called upon to share knowledge and support other fishing nations."
Maldives does not allow industrial fishing vessels within its waters, and restricts tuna fishing to artisanal boats (dhonis) owned by the island communities. All fishers in Maldives receive a share of the take from each trip, averaging 60-80% of export value - the highest anywhere in the world.
Our two factories in Himmafushi were purpose-built to optimize the receiving, processing, and export of tuna from the Maldives, allowing us to deliver exceptional quality at competitive prices. .
Tuna caught in Maldives is one of the most sustainable, fair and transparent seafood products available today.
Our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) framework focuses on minimizing impact, supporting stakeholders, and ensuring transparency. We strive to maintain our leadership in responsible fishing while contributing meaningfully to both local and global sustainability goals.
